Discharge from bankruptcy
How long does bankruptcy last?
You will normally be automatically discharged from bankruptcy after 1 year.
This period could be shorter if you can come to a settlement with your creditors.
This period could be longer if you do not fully co-operate or if you fail to disclose all of your property.
While bankruptcy normally ends after 1 year, ownership of your unsold property will remain with the Official Assignee, until sold.
